Comprehensive Civil Engineering Tool: This course introduces AutoCAD Civil 3D for civil engineering design and documentation, covering everything from basic interface navigation to advanced civil works modeling.

Practical Application: Gain hands-on experience in using AutoCAD Civil 3D to create and manage Civil works, including land development, site grading, roadway design, and pipe networks, among other essential civil engineering tasks.

Course Objectives

  • Understand the AutoCAD Civil 3D interface and navigate through workspaces, toolbars, and templates for a more efficient design process.
  • Manage projects effectively by using AutoCAD Civil 3D’s project management tools and data sharing features.
  • Create and manage parcels, including editing and renumbering, as well as generating reports and tables for better land development documentation.
  • Work with survey data by creating and editing points, managing survey figures, and importing external survey data for project integration.
  • Develop and manipulate surfaces, including analyzing surface data, adding breaklines, calculating volumes, and using surface analysis tools.
  • Design roadways and alignments, utilizing layout tools and applying alignment properties to meet design specifications.
  • Create and edit profiles, including profile views, finished ground profiles, and profile creation from surfaces.
  • Understand and work with corridors, assemblies, and intersections, including designing and visualizing corridor models for civil projects.
  • Utilize grading tools and modify grading processes to create and adjust feature lines for site grading and earthwork design.
  • Efficiently produce sections, calculate volumes, and create plan production sheets to finalize civil engineering designs and prepare project documentation.

Course Outline / Structure

  • AutoCAD Civil 3D Interface: Learn about the product overview, workspaces, user interface, toolspace, panorama, templates, settings, and styles for efficient navigation and setup.
  • Project Management: Understand how to manage AutoCAD Civil 3D projects, share data, and utilize data shortcuts for seamless collaboration and project organization.
  • Parcels: Create and manage parcels, including lines, curves, editing, renumbering, generating reports, and working with parcel labels and tables.
  • Survey Workflow: Gain insight into managing survey data, including working with survey figures, creating and editing points, importing data, and creating points groups.
  • Surface Design: Develop and manipulate surfaces, including contour data, breaklines, volume calculations, surface editing, and point cloud surface extraction.
  • Alignments: Learn how to design and manage alignments, layout tools, and apply alignment properties for roadway design projects.
  • Profiles: Create profile views, design finished ground profiles, and edit profiles from surface data to represent terrain or design elements.
  • Corridors: Understand corridor creation, assembly modifications, intersection designs, corridor surfaces, and section review for road and site design.
  • Grading: Use grading tools for creating feature lines and modifying site grading to ensure proper earthworks and topographical designs.
  • Pipe Networks & Plan Production: Work with pipe networks, configure and edit them, and use plan production tools to create and manage sheets and sets for civil projects.
