Introduction to BIM and Revit Structure: In-depth introduction to BIM and Autodesk Revit, focusing on the tools and features specific to structural design. Learn to model, analyze BIM and document building structures.

Hands-on Learning: Gain essential skills to create and modify structural elements, such as columns, grids, foundations, and reinforcement, while understanding the complete BIM workflow.

Foundation for Structural Projects: Gain the knowledge and skills needed to start structural projects, from setting up initial designs to preparing construction documents, build a solid foundation for future work in the field of structural BIM.

Course Objectives

  • Understand the principles of BIM and how Autodesk Revit facilitates the creation and management of BIM.
  • Navigate the Revit interface and use basic drawing and modify tools for structural elements.
  • Set up and link structural projects, including CAD files and Revit models.
  • Work with structural grids, columns, foundations, and framing elements.
  • Create and modify structural slabs and reinforcement.
  • Understand and apply structural analysis tools in Revit.
  • Prepare construction documents by setting up sheets, placing views, annotating, and creating schedules.
  • Develop an understanding of structural detailing, including adding detail components and creating legends.

  • Introduction to BIM and Revit: Understand the fundamentals of BIM and explore the Revit interface and basic commands for structural projects.
  • Basic Drawing and Modify Tools: Learn essential drawing tools, element editing, and basic and advanced modify tools to work efficiently in Revit.
  • Structural Project Setup: Understand how to link and import CAD files, set up levels, copy elements, and manage project coordination.
  • Grids and Columns: Learn how to add structural grids and place structural columns for project alignment and organization.
  • Foundations: Model walls, add footings, and create isolated footings and piers to develop a solid foundation design.
  • Structural Framing: Model, modify, and add structural framing elements like beams, columns, and trusses to support the structure.
  • Views and Sections: Set up, duplicate, and modify views, including elevation, sections, and callouts, for better visualization of structural elements.
  • Structural Slabs and Openings: Model structural slabs, create shaft openings, and ensure proper integration with other building elements.
  • Reinforcement: Learn to add and modify rebar, reinforcing walls, floors, and slabs to enhance the structural integrity of designs.
  • Construction Documentation: Create detailed construction sheets, add annotations, dimensions, tags, and produce accurate schedules for project documentation.

Requirements / Level

This course is specifically designed for individuals with no prior or minimal experience in Revit®, as well as professionals with a background in CAD, looking to expand their skills in Revit® and BIM workflows. While the course is accessible to beginners, having some foundational knowledge of structural design concepts would enhance the learning experience.

Assessment & Award

Participants who meet the attendance requirement will be awarded an Autodesk Certificate of Completion.
