BIM Execution Plan

Course Introduction

The adoption of BIM in the building and construction industry is growing. Amidst this environment, the Building and Construction Authority (BCA) of Singapore has developed a BIM Execution Plan (BEP). This course will help you understand BEP, strategies for effective BEP, overcoming common issues of an execution plan, and many more. Through this course, you can develop your own BEP with reference to the BCA BEP Guide.

Understanding BIM Execution Plan (BEP): This course provides an in-depth understanding of the BIM Execution Plan (BEP), its role in project planning, and how it ensures successful BIM implementation throughout the project lifecycle.

Developing an Effective BEP: Learn to develop a comprehensive and effective BIM Execution Plan, addressing key considerations such as workflows, software, and collaboration methods.

Practical Applications: The course will cover real-world applications and practical tips on overcoming common challenges, ensuring that the BEP facilitates smooth execution of BIM projects with clear roles, responsibilities, and processes.

Course Objectives

  • Understand the purpose and importance of a BIM Execution Plan (BEP) in managing BIM projects.
  • Identify the key components required to develop an effective BEP.
  • Address common issues and challenges when creating and implementing a BEP.
  • Define the roles and responsibilities of the project team involved in the BEP.
  • Develop a strategy for BIM delivery, including staffing and resource allocation.
  • Understand the BIM process workflow and how to optimize it for project success.
  • Learn about the tools and software used in BIM execution, including BIM VDC and Common Data Environments (CDE).
  • Implement BIM file sharing, collaboration techniques, and data exchange platforms across project teams.
  • Gain insights into BIM standards, including LOD considerations, drawing standards, and quality control methods.
  • Understand advanced BIM technologies such as 4D BIM, 5D BIM, drone inspections, and AR/VR applications for project management.

Course Outline / Structure

  • Introduction to BIM Execution Plan (BEP): Understanding what BEP is and why it’s essential for project success.
  • BIM Delivery Considerations: Key factors influencing the delivery of BIM projects, including resources and timelines.
  • BIM Staffing Considerations: Identifying appropriate staffing needs, roles, and responsibilities for BIM projects.
  • BIM Strategies and Workflow: Defining the strategies for BIM implementation and establishing workflows for efficiency.
  • BIM Software and Tools: An overview of BIM software, VDC workflows, and tools essential for execution.
  • BIM Common Data Environment (CDE): How to establish and use a CDE for seamless data management and collaboration.
  • File Sharing and Collaboration: Implementing best practices for BIM file sharing and collaboration between project parties.
  • BIM Standards and Quality Control: Establishing BIM standards, LOD considerations, color coding, and quality assurance methods.
  • Advanced BIM Technologies: Using 4D BIM, 5D BIM, drone inspections, and AR/VR tools for enhanced project review and management.
  • Model Validation and Design Review: Techniques for validating BIM models, conducting design reviews, and generating model validation reports.
